Welcome to the Open Source community. There is free exchange of information and commonly freely priced programs available at your fingertips. We discuss some of our most frequently used open source programs and the advantages of using open source software. Speaking of open source community, we will be at the Ohio Linux Fest at the Columbus Convention Center on October 11. Come see us there! We’ll be sporting Wide Open Mind shirts, so it should be easy to find us. Also, let us know of the open source programs that you rely on for your computer savvy needs.

Inform us: What are some open source programs you would recommend that you have found useful.

Finally, we would like to acknowledge Donnie Hoyle and "You Suck at Photoshop" for his inspiration for our "Grokking the Gimp" segment. Never before has such sarcasm and pent up bitterness created this level of gut wrenching humor. Check out his show here

Another informative episode! Nobody got hurt this time though. What does it mean to grok?

  2. Filezilla works just fine on the Mac (at least if you’re on OS X 10.5 or newer)

NeoOffice (based off OpenOffice.org) is better on the Mac than OpenOffice.org and it reads .docx files which OO.o does not (yet).

Good episode! I especially liked the clip with Leigh editing the photo from the AD meeting.

So..do you have a booth at this convention? i really liked this episode–the graphics were really neat. I’m looking forward to checking out the 3D image creator that rivals pixar.

Loved the conference relocation segment; we’ve all wanted to do that! Thanks for the sources, I’m going to find new programs to get addicted to now =) Also, if you’re into FTPing, you should check out FireFTP (also for Firefox). It’s user friendly and includes some features that most of the other FTP programs don’t, not to mention the sweet seahorse icon ;) Keep up the good work!

  6. What the crap!? I love Safari!

ok, I’m now a subscriber!! Gotta get out more… My favorite part was the picture being edited into Lajitas—who wrote the script for that? Great stuff. And how cute is the new little member of your family….not as cute as Berry, but handier:)
