12: Wardriving – How We Roll

Be wary of the wardrivers! They cruise the city, scanning for wireless networks whether business or home. If you have an unsecured or weakly secured network, there is a plethora of programs that can crack the security in under a minute once the wireless network has been detected. We take you on a wardriving adventure with a warchalking bonus and also discuss how to securely encrypt your wireless network. Forgo the WEP and join in on the WPA madness!

  1. FIRST!! ha ha just kidding. Great filming. Who did the driving sequence? That was totally off the hook. Love the site redesign. :)

  2. WPA/WPA2 are still far more secure than WEP but that may be changing.

I like the redesign. On the flash popout of the video the “home/blog/about” navagation kind of hangs off in space in the middle of noware.

Thanks Matthew. I’ve fixed the flash popout issue (I had an unnecessary z-index value for that container).

Good episode! Informative and entertaining. Are there going to be any episodes that have a science subject? Something cool but simplified enough to appeal to a broad audience?

What a cool episode. I really liked how you did the riving scene and I thought all the explanations had just the right amount of detail at a level anybody can understand….even me! I also thought athe end where you featured the website hak5 I think, having the website open by steve’s head was cool. I’m not sure if you’ve done that before but bravo! New website layout is also very attractive. Okay, on to the dislikes……ummm….NONE!

sweet episode..i think this is my favorite yet..your personalities show through more in this one i think. and i must say steve has some sweet chops..for some reason they stuck out to me lol..cool animation too, i like the wardriver’s “antenna” haha..good work you guys! can’t wait to see the next one!

  7. Thanks for the Hak5 shoutout at the end of your episode! It’s pretty awesome seeing someone get out in the neighborhood and practice wardriving.

My understanding is that garlic hasn’t really been proven to be effective against vampires. UV light is most effective, as well as wooden stakes and any other weaponry that can destroy vital organs. BTW, yawl were rollin’ like mack daddys.

Loved it! I really liked the concept and I have to agree with whoever commented about the driving scenes..they were sweet!

Nice! I’m a little paranoid about our network now, but I feel better knowing what the chalking was about; thought maybe there was a new gang in the hood when we drove past it =) Great job, nice driving sequence, you’re raising the bar as always! And c’mon, the only way to kill a vampire is to tear him apart and set the pieces on fire ;)

  11. Wardriving is a hate crime.
